Please see COVID safety note below**
MONDAY 9/7/2020 – 5:00-7:00 Optional Tryout- Warmup: Any athlete considering participating in the 2020 Boys Volleyball program is encouraged BUT NOT REQUIRED to attend a base skills “shake off the rust” night. We will have courts open and will allow athletes to work on individual skills with our coaching staff. PLEASE NOTE- OPTIONAL, absence is NOT going to be considered in anyway a negative- it is Labor Day and I am aware families may still be vacationing etc..
TUESDAY / WEDNESDAY scheduled “tryouts”aka team placement
4:30-6:30 -Varsity level– Players who are interested in playing on the Varsity level team should attend practice during this time slot.
6:45-8:45 – JV/Freshman– Boy’s Volleyball is among the fastest growing sports in the country. Blackshirt Volleyball has seen a growing participation as well and this season we are staffed for coaching 2 JV teams. Players at this level should either be new to the game (as in little to no experience) or developing their skills at any level. We as a coaching staff believe this level is developmental and welcome all boys until we run out of uniforms- and the budget won’t allow us to buy more 🙂 If you want to try volleyball – this is your opportunity to be highly coached in the skills needed to be successful
THURSDAY / FRIDAY
6:45-8:45 VARSITY LEVEL
**Due to Covid-19 all players must at all times be equipped with a face mask or gaiter (unless medical release provided in advance). Players should be prepared with their OWN water bottle as there is no shared bubbler/fountain available. Players should come ready for practice- no locker room access is available at this time. Players shall practice acceptable social distancing standards whenever possible. Specific details on the Standard Operating Procedures for this season will be shared directly with all players and a copy of the Waukesha School District Athletic Policy regarding COVID is available on the GoBlackshirts.com site. https://goblackshirts.com/covid-19-return-to-play-guidelines-info-for-families-and-athletes/
While these increased requirements may not be ideal- we have a duty to every athlete and student to reduce exposure risks wherever and however we can. We want to enjoy the season and not find ourselves cancelled due to a breakout.
Any student-athlete or parent with questions or concerns can reach me via phone, text or email.
We will be announcing our plans to hold a virtual parent team meeting. This will be the best opportunity for us to introduce our coaching staff and share some of the details with you for the upcoming season.
Here is to a great 2020 season!
