Winter Sport Statement
As practices begin for our Winter Sport season, the Classic 8 Conference Superintendents and Athletic Directors have determined that in order to do our part in controlling the spread of COVID-19, while also recognizing the importance of family support in our stands, the conference will only allow 2 adults (18 years of age and older) of the “home” school student-athletes to attend winter events. Fans who are unable to attend in-person will have the opportunity to view events via live streaming coordinated by host schools. Please note that all sites will charge admission* for the winter season. These guidelines will be evaluated in early January by the conference. Thank you for the support of our student-athletes during these unprecedented times.

To download the statement, click Winter Sports. Yes, unfortunately, this policy does include siblings. Upon check in at the gate, fans will need to provide the name of the rostered player (on the playing team (Varsity if a varsity game, JV if JV, etc) ) and only 2 adults per rostered home player will be admitted.
South High School will be live streaming as many home events as possible on our YouTube page. Look on our athletic website goblackshirts.com for how to get access to this service and more information will be shared as available. The rest of the C8 conference will have live streaming available where possible – we will push that info out as it becomes available to us. We already have a C8 livestream resource page up with some basic information and will update that as we are advised. Please be sure to follow our social media (Facebook, Athletic Office Twitter, Booster Twitter)
*Admission: Please consider purchasing a BOOSTER PASS to gain admission to your games. Cash collected at our gates is evenly distributed across all three high schools. For information on getting a Booster Pass, please click here.
At all events, it will be important to follow directions and stay physically distanced from the teams and other families. Masks are required. We are trying to keep them safe and healthy to be able to play. After events we need spectators to stay back, especially around courts or finish lines and ideally meet their athlete at the car if you are driving them.
We know that this policy is NOT what anyone wants to read. Much thought and consideration has been given to allow us to achieve our most important goal & objective: To keep our athletes HEALTHY and PLAYING.
We, too, look forward to the end of this pandemic and its impact on our students, student athletes, coaches and fans. Thank you for helping us prioritize the health and safety of our athletes and school community so they can continue to compete.
Our hope is that with diligence, good practices, and a vaccine/medical/science interventions, we can soon move forward from what has been an unprecedented year. Better days are ahead. Stay positive, stay focused and do what you need to do to make a difference. Our hope is that we can have at least PART of a more normal winter season when things are re-evaluated in early 2021.
